Founding & Managing Partner, GreenHouse Capital
Group CEO, Venture Garden Group
Bunmi Akinyemiju is an investor who treats capital as an infrastructure. He is a Founding and Managing Partner at GreenHouse Capital (GHC) and Group CEO of Venture Garden Group (VGG). Based in Houston, Texas, and working across Nigeria, East Africa and the US, he designs how capital, governance and execution come together to build durable businesses in Africa and other emerging markets.
He deploys capital through three vehicles. GreenHouse Capital backs early and growth-stage technology companies and has supported more than 60 of them, including Flutterwave, Helium Health, Migo and MAX. VGG operates as a venture studio and holding structure that pairs capital with execution. Special purpose vehicles are used selectively for infrastructure-linked, regulated and asset-backed opportunities. GHC's model is profiled as a case study in Andrea Kates' book From Stuck to Scale (2024).
His investment philosophy is the CAMEL model: companies that are capital-efficient, accountable, modular, and enduring, built for Africa's operating realities rather than copied from Silicon Valley. Camels generate cash flow early, carry heavy loads, and survive droughts. His long-term goal is to help create 100 Camel Millionaires. These are African entrepreneurs who build profitable, resilient businesses and generational wealth without depending on venture exit cycles.
His current focus is financial rails, including payments, FX and credit; capital formation platforms; and tech-enabled businesses anchored in real assets such as energy, real estate and infrastructure. He backs founder-led, execution-strong teams, prefers concentrated conviction over shallow diversification, and stays close to governance where it matters.
That approach comes from over two decades as an operator. Before investing, he built payments, data and compliance systems in regulated industries in the US, then national-scale platforms in Nigeria for aviation, education, energy and government.
He also serves as Head of the Digital Economy Policy Commission at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and leads Open Africa, which connects diaspora capital and talent to African ventures. He holds a degree in Computer Engineering from Michigan State University.
